Work From Home Writing and Making Money with Articles

Do you want to work from home writing articles?

Want to make a living off it?

Well thanks to digital technology and the internet making money with articles is now absolutely possible.

More and more people are turning to the net to get their information, and businesses know it, which is part of the reason that it is now entirely possible to make a living with a work from home writing enterprise of your choice.

The best part is that because you are working from your own home, you don’t have overheads that other employees and small businesses have. In fact one of the reasons that making money with articles is such a great option is because you can literally get started without spending a dime! Seriously.

Now, before you get too carried away I am going to lay the facts out straight – There is NO QUICK FIX here.

If you want to work from home writing and making money with articles it is damn hard work, incredibly frustrating,  time consuming and there are plenty of learning curves.

But for those willing to do the time it is also incredibly fun, you will meet some amazing people and yes, there is even the chance to make some money.

There are four main ways that you can earn a living and work from home writing articles;

  1. Selling Your Article
  2. Selling Your Services
  3. Selling Your Story
  4. Keeping Everything and Making Your Article Work For You

1 – Selling Your Article;

If you want to work from home writing articles about anything and everything then sites like AssociatedContent.com and Suite101.com will pay you for your articles. Be warned though, they come with their own set of conditions.

For example Suite 101 pays pretty well but only accept applicants whose writing style fits the style of their site – as a result only 20% of applicants ever makes it through.

Associated Content.com is not as stringent in their vetting of authors and will pay US citizens for upfront articles that they really like as well as a performance payout per view. But don’t get too excited – the basic rate for an upfront payment from AC is $2-$3 and the performance payment starts at $1.50 per 1000 views that your article gets. So this is certainly not a quick way of making money with articles.

ConstantContent.com is another site that you can submit your articles to. These are then auctioned off to the highest bidder, the amount that you get depends on the publishing rights that you attach to the article.

You could also look at making money with articles that review products – see this post for more information on making money with review articles. But it is roughly along the same lines – you work from home writing about a product and get paid for that article.

A great way to get residual income from one article is to start your own PLR store. Where you get to write articles and sell them over and over again in packs. More about that later.

2 – Selling Your Services

You can sell your freelance writing services via your own site. A good article writer should expect at least $10 per page but unfortunately you will be competing with writers who are willing to sell their skills for far less. Fortunately good clients  realize that these cheaper articles may not have the quality that is required for authority sites. The trick is to be able to build your reputation, while maintaining your price point.

Places like eLance.com, fiverr.com and oDesk.com act as an agency for writers and as a marketplace for businesses. Businesses and individuals who are looking for writers to fill a variety of freelance writing jobs often start at these sites.

The downside with work from home writing as a ghostwriter is that you do not have the freedom of choice about what you write about. If you don’t mind writing 500 word articles centered on a couple of keywords (and usually about pretty mundane things – like dog training) then this can be a good and quick way of making money with articles.

3 – Selling Your Story

Blogging is a popular work from home writing pastime – you may already have a personal blog set up. There are two ways of making money with articles on blogs;

1 – by getting sponsored

2 – getting Adwords ads put in your blog.

Both of these require time, experience and understanding of how your site, traffic and advertising online works.

4 – Keep Everything and Make Your Articles Work for You

These are all very well, but what if there was a way to earn a residual income off your article? And instead of being paid once for your article, how would you like the chance to retain the rights to your article and have it working for you permanently?

Imagine the freedom that you would get if you could work from home writing and making money with articles on topics that you choose and in the writing style that you like?

There are two ways to do this;

  1. Sell your articles as Private Label Rights (PLR) content
  2. Become an Affiliate Marketer

Selling PLR

There are literally millions of sites online and they all need content. Rather than advertise freelance writing jobs, one of the best ways for site owners to get content is to buy it from PLR stores. In many cases the content that they get is far superior and far cheaper than bespoke ghostwritten work.

The key to selling PLR is to provide a quality product and who better to teach you about setting up and selling your own PLR store than expert PLR provider Tiffany Dow. See what she has to offer in her PLR ATM course

Affiliate Marketing

Have another quick squizz around most of the articles on the internet and you will notice that most of them contain links to other sites, products or services. These authors are making money with articles by being what we call affiliate marketers.

This is one of the most rewarding ways to work from home writing that we know of. In a nutshell you write articles about certain products or services and include a link to a sales page – like this….. Learn How To Be An Affiliate Marketer – Click Here

When the reader clicks on that link and subsequently buys the product you receive a pre-arranged commission.

Now none of these work from home writing options are get-rich-quick schemes.

They all take time and plenty of effort. But for the right person they can also open up a whole new world of financial freedom. Whether you want to have set work from home writing jobs or want the potential to build your Freelance writing empire, your options thanks to the internet are endless.
